World Day for Physical Activity
I have been slow in talking about this, but April 6th, 2010 has been designated as “World Day for Physical Activity”. This idea has been created by a South American-based organization called “Agita Mundo Network”. The central theme this year is “active cities, healthy life”. This organization, along with the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) is encouraging groups and even cities to mobilize for this special day and do something active (i.e., talk a walk, do a group exercise class). The goal is to promote healthy behavior for everyone, everyday. Agita has set up a network where you can register your group (www.agitamundo.org), so you can be part of the global community of people who are participating. It is not too late to get a group together and take a 20 minute walk during your lunch break or take a pilates class with all your co-workers and/or family members! All of us can play a part in the overall health of our community. Just go out there and do it!
Happiness and good health!
